The River Huts

FAQs

Check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10:30am. If you have a reservation, you are welcome to come hang out on the property two hours before check-in. You can hang out on the front lawn by front of the office or down by the river.

Please see the listed maximum capacity per Cabin or River Hut you are interested in. That information is located on the Stay page of this website. As noted you can add an additional +1 to any Cabin and use one of our on-site cots for that. There is a separate charge of $50 and you need to bring your own sleeping bag for that guest.

A. Every reservation includes 2 passenger vehicles.
B. Parking is allowed at your site only.
C. All vehicles must be in good operating condition to handle dirt and gravel roads.
D. Oversized vehicles wider than 96 inches such as some RVs and trailers are not allowed because they will not fit over the width of our bridge. Most normal trucks, cars and vans will cross with plenty of width clearance.

Unfortunately given the current fire danger in the area, no campfires or charcoal grills are allowed. All cabins have gas grills and if you are camping in one of the river huts or the camping sites we encourage you to bring a gas grill or gas camp-stove for cooking.

For the camping and River Hut cabins you may also bring a portable gas fire pit, 24" diameter or smaller for your stay; absolutely nothing that can create embers is allowed.

Unfortunately, none of the major internet providers offer high-speed service at our location. Currently, WiFi access is very limited and only available near the cabins, close to the office, and up in the meadow. It can be used for text-based communication and email.

We do have a stronger, though intermittent, connection near the barn through Starlink. Most people using AT&T can get one to two bars of cellular reception in the meadow. We are working on a more permanent solution, but in the meantime, we hope you embrace this opportunity to disconnect and enjoy your time here.

The River Cabins are little houses on the river. They have a full kitchen stocked with pots and pans, and other kitchen essentials like coffee pots, microwaves, and refrigerators.

The River Huts are all bare bones. They do not have pots or pans. Bring what you would need for camping: propane camp stove, headlights/lanterns, and plates/utensils. Please see the site description for more info on each.

Bathroom towels are provided in the River Cabins. There are no swim towels on site; please bring your own swim towels if you plan to enjoy a dip in the river.

No towels are provided in the River Huts so plan to bring your own towels for showers, camp kitchen use, and/or swimming.

A. See cabin amenities for an overview of what is included in our river cabins and river huts. Additional suggestions include:

ii. Phone charger
iii. Sunscreen and bug spray
iv. Backpack for hiking the trails
v. Jackets for winter or cool evenings
vi. Headlamps or flashlights for dark evenings
vii. Spices / Condiments
viii. Aluminum foil / Plastic storage bags / food storage containers

A. Your furry dog family members are welcome at The Yubaverse! Please note the following policies that apply to your reservation to ensure the best stay for you and your fur baby:
i. Well-behaved pets are welcome. Noisy, aggressive, or unruly pets are not permitted. If your dog tends to bark at everything in the universe such as prowling raccoons or other dogs, please consider leaving your pet at home.
ii. One well-behaved pet is allowed per cabin or hut. A second pet is allowed for an additional $20 per night.
iii. Pets must be up-to-date on rabies vaccinations and other vaccinations.
iv. Pets should be treated with flea and tick repellant.
v. You are responsible for cleaning up any/all pet refuse. Please do not leave poop bags around the property to be 'collected later'; please carry them with you and throw them away in the dumpster by the bridge.
vi. Please be respectful of the premises and furnishings; make sure that your pet is not damaging property. If damages are caused, the guest will be charged for the price of repair or replacement.
vii. Because the property may be shared by many guests during your visit, please make sure to limit barking and excessive noise. Dogs who bark incessantly are not welcome.
viii. Pets must be kept on a leash or be under the voice control of their family at all times. Please remember that there may be other pets on the property; consider how your pet interacts with others. And remember, there may be children and picnickers out and about, and pets that are outside must be with their families at all times.
ix. The Yubaverse is not responsible for and will hold pet owners accountable for any injury or damage caused by pets. In addition, the owner of any pet(s) that cause injury or damage to others is 100% liable for the damages.

Yes - 2 Nights

100% refund prior to 30 days of the reservation. 50% refund from 30 to 16 days before the reservation. 0% refund 15 days or less to the reservation.

One extra person per the listed capacity of each cabin may be added by using one of our cots. There is an additional charge of $50 and you will need to bring your own sleeping bag.

As for visitors, we love having visitors at The Yubaverse! All guests need to register with the main office and provide photo ID. A temporary car pass will be provided. Visitors are expected to read and adhere to all property and cabin policies and vacate the premises by 10 p.m. If this requirement is not met you will be charged with a full additional 2 night's cost for violating this policy.

No amplified music is allowed other than inside your cabin if you wish to listen to your own portable speaker. In any event your music must not disturb the peace of the other guests at the time of your stay.

A band or other amplified music is only allowed with site buyouts. Please contact us on the contact form to learn more if you are interested in your own private event that includes amplified music.

A. Leave no trace! Please keep your cabin or hut site tidy and litter free. Leaving unprotected trash outside is unmanageable in windy weather and attracts the bears and other wildlife.
B. Please be mindful of your fellow visitors and do not walk through other guests' site or cabin.
C. If you move a picnic table, return it to its original location after use.
D. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Please be mindful of noise on the property.
E. No smoking/vaping inside any property building or outdoors within 25 feet of any cabin. There are marked areas for smoking. **If you smoke on the property, please be majorly aware of fire danger! Put out anything lit (butts, joints, matches, etc.) in water.**

The Yubaverse is located in the wilderness. There are active black bears in the area who are often on the lookout for open car doors and windows or cabin doors. Please keep all food and trash locked in your cabin or secured in one of our trash bins. Keep your car windows rolled up and your car locked. Also keep your cabin locked when you are not inside. Hooks for your key are on the outside of the cabin next to the door. You are 100% liable for damages a bear causes due to lack of diligence on your part.

Yes you need a fishing license to fish in the North Yuba River and surrounding lakes. For full details please visit the California Fish and Wildlife website here: https://wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Inland

If you are staying in the River Huts or camping you may bring your van or small camper. However, our bridge has some very stringent limitations, with no exceptions.

Nothing over 96" wide (8 feet). That is the full width of the bridge and it is tight even at that. Most vans and small campers will have no problem with that.

Nothing over 11 tons or 20,000 lbs. That is the weight limit of our bridge. No exceptions.
